Small states in changing world order

Provider Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport
Programme Aktion Czech republik-Austria
Project code 104p2
Participants Faculty of Social Sciences Charles University, Universitat Innsbruck

The international order is undergoing profound change, marked by the weakening of core
principles such as sovereignty and non-intervention and by the growing assertiveness of great
powers. These developments pose particular challenges for small states. This project brings
together scholars and PhD candidates from two institutions to examine 1) why and how
international orders are changing and 2) how small states, particularly European small state,
adapt their foreign and security policies to changes in international orders? It aims to foster
scholarly exchange, support early-career research collaboration, and explore opportunities for
sustained institutional cooperation in the academic disciplines of foreign policy analysis and
international security studies.
