Digital technologies are changing the world of media and the way the public is informed about news and current affairs. In turn, the digitalisation of media poses new challenges to democracy. However, a healthy relationship between media and democracy is possible. To improve relations between citizens, media and digital technologies, the EU-funded ReMeD project will implement an interdisciplinary approach and an innovative (qualitative and quantitative) methodology. The project will collect, analyse and compare data on professional journalists, alternative media content producers, and citizens operating in technologically mediated configurations and media organisations, market structures, and national and international regulations relative to media production, circulation, and consumption. ReMeD will involve stakeholders to co-produce high-impact solutions for media that strengthen democracy.
