This project analyzes how individual characteristics of corporate board directors are associated with corporate outcomes. In the first part, we will develop innovative analytical models of strategic information transmission in corporate boards, capturing signaling, information acquisition, and Bayesian persuasion. Our analysis will focus on the effects of independence, CEO’s pressure, board composition and board diversity in the context of both unitary and dual corporate governance. In the second part, we will look into the board composition in the banks in the Czech Republic. We are mainly interested in the associations between the management board composition and bank risk measures. We will apply panel data methods and machine learning techniques to select from the wide set of individual characteristics of board members.
