The proposed project has important theoretical and practical implications: from a theoretical and methodological point of view, it explores the existing model of the (Czech) diaspora versus transnationalism and what key factors may explain relationships of migrants/compatriots towards the mother country. From an applied point of view, it will propose potential new policies regarding Czechs abroad and regarding the relation between Czechs abroad and Czechia. Moreover, new data and following research have the potential to push forward our theoretical understanding of the relationship between transnationalism, stages of migration, and integration with regard to spatial distribution and types of the diaspora members, which has so far been lacking.
