Promoting democratisation in authoritarian contexts

The debate on how to promote democratisation in authoritarian regimes continues. Experts with a deep understanding of law, society, and governance in these contexts are essential, utilising innovative theoretical and methodological approaches. With the support of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions programme, the SOCIAL project aims to enhance understanding and address challenges in promoting democratisation and good governance in authoritarian settings. It will collect original data and provide insights into the relationship between law, society, and governance in Central Asia. It will also develop sustainable doctoral training programmes on authoritarian regimes across various disciplines and regions. Additionally, it will contribute to the global agenda for democratisation by translating research findings into actionable policy recommendations for international organisations, development agencies, and decision-makers.
