In order to ensure the preparedness of the application guarantor, the project aims to process a variant “modular” solution to the possible implementation of directly elected mayors in the Czech Republic at the level of the legislative intent of the law. On the one hand, this solution will eliminate the risks associated with the implementation of direct elections to the Czech system of local government. However, it will also offer the application guarantor the possibility to implement direct elections according to the variants corresponding to political preferences of the government and legislators. In compliance with the research strategy, the stated aim (ÉTA field 4, challenge 26) should be reached in August 2020, and a comprehensive research report should be completed in November 2020.
