From ‘democratic backsliding’ to ‘re-democratizing’: understanding how East European countries get back on a liberal democratic course

3. 6. - 4. 6. 2025
Jinonice Campus

The workshop aims to bring together established and early career scholars working on single case or comparative studies looking at how East European countries re-build democratic institutions and processes after periods of populist / illiberal rule. We are interested in contributions focusing on the Czech Republic, Poland and the Baltic states, as well as more theoretical contributions. The intention is to submit a proposal for a special issue of East European Politics based on the workshop papers.
